Supporting Exploratory Browsing of Tweets on an e-Participation Web Platform
We aim to develop an agent for supporting concern assessment about specified public issues using social media, e.g., Twitter. An exploratory browser of Twitter timeline is needed for gathering tweets for use of concern assessment because the exploratory understanding process of background information behind a specific issue is essential for determining which tweets should be used for the assessment. To develop an exploratory browsing method, we focus on the time-series flow of feature terms extracted from tweets related to a target public issue because the transition of concerns is important for assessing public concerns. In this paper, we develop a method for extracting feature terms that represent time-series transition of public concerns and a method for exploratory browsing of Twitter timeline based on the extracted feature terms. Moreover, we present an application of our exploratory browsing method to an agent for gathering tweets and assessing public concerns.
